Pennsylvania Drug Trafficking Attorneys
Trafficking drugs in Pennsylvania brings the same type of charges as manufacturing, cultivating, growing or distributing illegal drugs or controlled substances in what is called Possession With Intent to Deliver, or PWID.
Illegal drugs include cocaine, marijuana, heroin, steroids, methamphetamine, ecstasy, LSD, and all other types of illegal drugs or controlled substances including illegally obtained or manufactured prescription drugs.
Usually if you have been charged with PWID in PA it is because there was a large amount of the drug found or under other circumstances, like the type of packaging of the drug or a large amount of cash found at the alleged crime scene.
The penalties for drug trafficking are much harsher than for a Simple Possession of Drugs Conviction. If you have been charged with possession only of drugs, contact a Pittsburgh Drug Possession Lawyer today.

PENALTIES IN PA FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING
A PWID conviction is typically considered a felony and the penalty upon conviction can be up to 15 years of imprisonment, or a fine not exceeding two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000), or both. Also are court costs, loss of driver’s license and other losses of freedom, like being able to apply for federal student loans.
If this is your second or subsequent offense, actual sentencing is much harsher. The severity of the punishment largely depends on the type of drug involved.
To convict you of drug trafficking, a prosecutor must show beyond a reasonable doubt that you illegally obtained the drug and then delivered or intended to deliver it to another person.
In large-scale drug operations, and sometimes even in small ones, you will be tried by both the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the U.S. Federal Government.
If you are being tried with drug trafficking by the U.S. Federal Government, you will need to hire an experienced and aggressive Federal Crime Attorney in Pittsburgh.
To see the penalties you face if charged with Federal Drug Trafficking, read the information on the Justice.gov website.

AN EXPERIENCED PITTSBURGH DRUG CRIME LAWYER IS CRUCIAL FOR YOUR DEFENSE
At Shrager Defense Attorneys we examine your case closely and look for any opportunities to have your charges dropped or reduced. If the arresting officers did not have probable cause to arrest you, evidence could be suppressed and your charges dropped.
In order to have the charges dropped a defendant has to prove their innocence. To argue against a determined prosecutor, a defendant has to prove that they lacked the knowledge about the drugs or the intent to distribute them, that they were entrapped, or that an unlawful search and seizure took place. These are among a few of the types of defenses available.
For a reduction in sentencing, there are several programs that involve rehabilitation for drug users in Pennsylvania and Allegheny County as a substitute for a prison sentence or a reduced sentence.
However, you have to apply and be accepted into these programs and it helps to have an aggressive attorney to help push for your acceptance. In addition, there may be room to plea bargain for a lesser sentence.
Whichever is the case, Attorney Shrager will be completely upfront with you about your situation and what to expect. Give him a call now and start fighting for your rights.
Everyone makes mistakes and sometimes really good people get caught up in really bad situations. Attorney Shrager understands that and wants to make sure that your rights are not being infringed on and that you have the best defense to aggressively fight for your rights.
