PITTSBURGH HEROIN LAWYER

Heroin Charges in PA – Sentencing & Penalties in Pennsylvania

Know Your Rights. Fight Back.

Because heroin is a Schedule I narcotic, a simple possession of heroin conviction, no matter how small the quantity, could lead to prison time, even for first offenders.

Possession of heroin charges can also mean a loss of driver’s license and difficulties in finding housing and employment and ineligibility for student loans, among many other personal rights that have a huge impact on you and your family.

If you have been charged with heroin possession, this does not mean that you will definitely have to go to jail.

An arrest is not a conviction.

Talking with an aggressive and experienced heroin attorney who knows how to fight for your rights is the first step you need to take. A strong attorney who will fight for your rights could make all the difference as to whether you receive a conviction or not.

David J. Shrager is a compassionate Pittsburgh Criminal Lawyer who understands that good people make mistakes and that being charged with a heroin crime is a scary ordeal.

WHAT A HEROIN ATTORNEY CAN DO FOR YOU

A skilled heroin attorney will look at all of the alleged facts in your case. In order for you to be arrested there had to have been probable cause. If it was found that your arrest stemmed from an illegal search, your charges will be dismissed.

Oftentimes people who are charged with heroin possession are struggling with addiction. An aggressive attorney may be able to persuade the District Attorney to allow you to enter a drug treatment program instead of serving in prison.

Options exist like The Allegheny County Drug Court Program, which is a rehabilitative program that can shorten your sentencing.

The Probation without Verdict Program (PWV) is another option which could allow your charges to be dropped completely and your criminal record expunged.

It is important to have an aggressive and experienced attorney on your side to fight for your acceptance into these programs.
